The Christmas Truck Parade

I’m not sure if this happens anywhere else, but every year in Victoria, there’s a Christmas Truck Parade which collects money and food items for the food bank.  It’s a huge deal, with the decorated trucks winding their way through the city on a route that takes them 3 hours. Here’s a short video. I love the truck parade even more than the Santa Parade.  My favorites are the cement trucks because their mixers are lit up with moving lights…so cool!  And I totally love that it’s for a worthy cause.  Note the postal truck decorated with Santa’s postal code which we all know is H0 H0 H0.

what fun. Had never heard of it. What a Win Win campaign. Good for them, and such a great cause.

That is so cool! What a deLIGHTful idea! (sorry, the pun wasn’t intended originally, but I just went with it…)

I love the cement mixer best, too. We don’t have anything like this — wish we did. (I should suggest it to the Food Bank… Hmmm….)

I’m not sure what is brought in yearly as a result, but thousand go out each year to see it, and I’m pretty sure the food bank does well by it, it’s fun for the truckers, a great community event, and very well received.

I’d recommend suggesting it to your local trucking or machine operators association. It is a minimal cost, high profile, very positive community event and it’s fun. Businesses also love it as the route runs along several business corridors that do well both before and after the event and, of course, it’s great to help people during this wonderful, but sometimes difficult season, through food bank support.
